Juicy 2-Ingredient Turkey Burgers

Jump to Recipe - Print Recipe

When weeknights get busy, these juicy 2-ingredient turkey burgers are a lifesaver. Since the sausage is already seasoned, you can skip the spice cabinet and go straight to the grill.

Here's how to make the turkey burgers!

Easy Two Ingredient Turkey Burger Recipe Cleveland Cooking

Why You Will Love These Italian Sausage and Turkey Burgers

  • Budget Friendly: Buying ground turkey and sausage in bulk is often cheaper than buying pre-made specialty patties.
  • Time Saver: No chopping onions or measuring out five different spices.
  • Reliable Results: The fat in the sausage ensures the meat stays tender every time you cook it.

Ingredients for the Juicy Turkey Burgers

  • Ground Turkey: This provides a lean, mild base for the burger.
  • Italian Sausage: This is the "secret" ingredient. It contains the fat and spices (like fennel and garlic) needed to keep the lean turkey from drying out.

Making the 2-Ingredient Turkey Burgers

  • Combine: Place the ground turkey and sausage in a large bowl. Use your hands to gently fold them together. Stop as soon as the colors are marbled together to keep the texture light.
  • Shape: Divide the meat into six portions. Gently press them into circles. Make a small thumbprint indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly without bulging.
  • Cook: Heat your grill or skillet to medium-high. Cook for about 6 minutes on the first side. Flip and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes until the center is no longer pink and the internal temp is 165°F.

FAQ's

Can I use sweet or spicy Italian sausage in this recipe?

Yes! Both work well. Sweet sausage gives a mild flavor, while spicy adds a little kick. Choose what suits your taste.

Can I make these turkey burgers ahead of time?

Absolutely. Mix and shape the patties in the morning, then refrigerate until ready to cook. They also reheat well!

Can I freeze the burger patties?

Yes! Freeze uncooked patties between layers of parchment paper in an airtight container or bag for up to 3 months.

What’s the best way to cook them — grill, pan, or oven?

They’re excellent on all three. Grill or pan-fry for a crispy sear, or bake for hands-off cooking.

Do I need to add any seasoning to the burgers?

No. The sausage adds all the seasoning and moisture needed. That’s the beauty of the 2-ingredient trick!

The burgers go great with the strawberry almond salad! They make for a great summer combination for a picnic or family party.

This is just one of the my great dinners I have on my site. Explore them all!
