- 12 ounce bag of fresh green beans
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
The ingredients for the green beans
There are only a few ingredients for this recipe. Green beans, olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper. The beans need to be fresh. Bagged is fine, but not canned. Most grocery stores offer pre-bagged green beans in 12 oz to 16 oz bags. Olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper round out the rest of the ingredients. You can also substitute avocado oil for the olive oil.
The microwave is the first step
The first step to cooking the green beans is to microwave them for one minute. This will start the cooking process, tenderize the beans, and get rid of some of the moisture before they hit the high heat of the oven. The process is easy. Just place the beans on a paper towel lined microwave safe plate and cook for one minute. Once cooked the green beans can be moved over to a lined baking sheet for some olive oil and seasoning.
Seasoning and baking
Place the beans on a lined baking sheet and drizzle the olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper over the green beans. Use a spatula or tongs to mix the beans up with the seasoning. Now they are ready to go into the oven. Bake the green beans at 425 degrees F for a total of 10 minutes, but mix the beans up after 5 minutes for even cooking.
