This easy roasted garlic recipe will become one of your kitchen staples. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a rich, mellow roasted garlic that can be used in so many dishes, from pastas and dips to aoli. You are in for a surprisingly simple process that yields a fragrant and delicious ingredient in about 55 minutes total time.
What You Will Need:
- 2 bulbs of garlic
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
Preparing the roasted garlic recipe
This is such an easy recipe! The first step is to preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Next, cut the top off of the garlic bulbs to expose the top of the garlic cloves. Place the cloves on a piece of aluminum foil large enough to wrap them both up. Pour the olive oil over the top of the bulbs, and add the salt and pepper. Wrap the garlic bulbs by bringing the corners together and twisting them to resemble Hershey’s kiss chocolate.
Roasting the Garlic Cloves and Checking for Doneness
Place the wrapped garlic bulbs in the oven to roast. They will roast for 45 minutes at 375 degrees F. To check for doneness, use a dish towel around your hand to protect your hand from getting burned, and give the wrapped garlic bulbs a gentle squeeze. The garlic is done if the bulbs are soft. Another way to confirm that they are done is to take the package out and carefully unwrap the bulbs. Use a knife to check if the cloves are soft. If the cloves are soft then the garlic is done roasting.
Getting the Roasted Garlic Out of the Bulbs
Next, let the bulbs cool. There are a couple of ways to get the Roasted Garlic out of the bulb. The first method is to just squeeze it out. Give the Roasted bulb a squeeze and the soft cloves will come right out. The other way is to use a knife or fork and pick the cloves out individually. Either way it can get messy but well worth it! You should be able to get about 1/4 cup of roasted garlic from this recipe. It all depends on how big the cloves are.
