Defaults use published rounded ingredient weights: cinnamon 21 g / 9 tsp, ginger 5 g / 2 tsp, nutmeg 4 g / 1½ tsp, allspice 2 g / 1 tsp. Actual density varies with grind and packing. Weigh several level teaspoons and divide by the count for your own g/tsp.

If a recipe lists separate warm spices, matching their total volume changes the balance. Do not replace extra cinnamon or other separately listed spices automatically.
How the calculator works
The volume ratio is fixed at 9 : 2 : 1.5 : 1 for cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice. A tablespoons target is divided by 4.5; a grams target is divided by the estimated original batch weight. Each ingredient is multiplied by that factor. Batch cost = sum of (ingredient grams ÷ container grams × container price). One net-weight ounce = 28.349523125 grams.
Default ingredient weights and general equal-volume substitution guidance are adapted from Sally’s Baking Addiction. Its recipe also includes cloves and pepper; this calculator follows your four-spice ratio only. Equal-volume conversions are a starting point, not an exact flavor match.
Calculations retain full precision; displayed values are rounded. Cost estimates cover spices only, not jars, labor, tax, or shipping. Your entries last for this visit; download your notes before leaving.
